Below are some of the commonly used conversions and measurements in Cooking.

Weights
Accurately, 1 ounce equals 28 grams, but for the sake of convenience it is mostly taken as 25 or 30. Here I have given all three so you can choose which you like.

Volume & Liquid Measurements
1 teaspoon = 5 ml = 1/3 tablespoon
1 tablespoon = 15 ml = 3 teaspoon
1 fluid ounce = 30 ml = 2 tablespoon
1/4 cup = 60 ml (4 tablespoons)
1/3 cup = 80 ml
1/2 cup = 120 ml
1 cup = 240 ml
10 fluid ounce = 1/2 pint = 300 ml
1 pint = 600 ml
1 US quart = approximately 1 litre

Length
1 inch = 2.54 centimeters
1 foot = 12 inches = 30 centimeters

Temperature
275°F = 140°C
300°F = 150°C
325°F = 165°C
350°F = 180°C
375°F = 190°C
400°F = 200°C
425°F = 220°C
450°F = 230°C
475°F = 240°C

Cake Tins
As a thumb rule, a square tin holds about 25% more than a round tin of the same size. If you’re using a square tin for a round tin recipe, keep the temperature the same, and turn the cake during baking, as the corners tend to cook faster than the middle.

1 level tablespoon
Rice -15g
Sugar – 15g
Butter – 15g
Flour, unsifted – 8g
Breadcrumbs  3-4g

1 finely chopped Garlic clove = 1 teaspoon
1 Average onion = 130g
1 stick of butter = 4oz = 120g = 1/2cup
1 ounce chocolate = 1/4 cup grated chocolate
1 package active dry yeast = about 2 1/4 teaspoons = 1/4 ounce
